Support and help are available
Brainwaves NI gives people going through a brain tumour journey, along with their families and carers, opportunities to come together, support one another and reduce the isolation that can follow a diagnosis. Our support activities are financed by the charity.
How to ask for support
Call 07710 556424, email info@brainwaves-ni.org or use the contact form. We will listen, explain what support may be available and help you decide what feels right.
Emotional support and counselling
Brainwaves NI can arrange confidential emotional support with a trained therapist. Support may be available in person, by phone or online, depending on individual needs and circumstances.
The approach used is compassionate, paced and focused on helping people make sense of difficult experiences, grief, loss and trauma in a safe and trusted relationship.
Member outings
We facilitate outings for members to locations across Northern Ireland. Activities have included bowling, historical tours, theatre trips, boat trips and meals. These events offer respite, companionship and a welcome change of pace.
Information evenings and support meetings
Information events bring members into closer contact with researchers, healthcare professionals and organisations that can offer practical help. Through our relationship with the Johnston Cancer Research Centre , members can hear accessible updates about research supported by the charity.
Information and signposting
We help people find appropriate, reliable information and connect with relevant services. Brainwaves NI is a support charity and does not replace medical advice from a GP, consultant or healthcare team.
Membership
Membership is open to patients and carers affected by a brain tumour. Members can hear about activities, information events and support opportunities.
